About/Bio

Brendon Bushman is an oboist and recovering graphic designer in the Rock Hill & Charlotte area. Recently relocating from Austin, Brendon studied with Rebecca Henderson at The University of Texas at Austin. There, he also maintained an active studio and performed with the Round Rock, Brazos Valley, Temple, & San Angelo Symphonies.

Prior to living in Austin, Brendon resided in Atlanta, where he worked as a graphic designer while playing principal oboe with the Ludwig Symphony Orchestra & the Capitol City Opera, and in the sections of the New Atlanta Philharmonic & Cobb Wind Symphony, as well as touring with the Atlanta Pops Orchestra. An active chamber musician, Brendon also was a member of the Georgia Chamber Winds, the Highland 5 Quintet, and Mercury Season.

Previous teachers include included Nicholas Daniel, Theodore Baskin, & Anne Leek @ The Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, and Yvonne Powers Peterson and Barbara Goorevitch Cook in the Atlanta area.

Brendon can be heard with the Atanta Chamber Winds on their 2009 Albany Records release, Music From Paris.

When not scraping on reeds, Brendon enjoys spending time with his wife Catharine & daughter Emmaline, & long walks with Kona the wonderdog.
