Lessons & Teaching
My studio includes beginners, college students, and everything in between, with students from ages 11 to 75. Having taught privately since 1999, my students have made district and state level honor bands in Georgia, Texas, and Minnesota. Students have gone on to study music at colleges including Florida State University, Arizona State University, & Louisiana State University.
Brendon is truly outstanding! I've seen him work with middle-level students in various settings and I am impressed by his dedication to students and to music. Brendon captures and piques students' interest with his wealth of musical knowledge, superb musicianship, and authenticity. Brendon tailors lessons to each individual student to ensure they stay motivated to practice and continue to learn and grow as a young musician. I maintain private studios in St. Cloud, MN and at Maestoso Music Studio in St. Louis Park, MN. Maestoso is conveniently located less than 15 minutes drive from Minnetonka, Edina, Golden Valley, & Eden Prarie, and 6 miles west of downtown Minneapolis. My students have a variety of backgrounds and musical goals, and I tailor my curriculum to their individual needs. With all students, I create a positive environment to study and improve many facets of oboe playing, including embouchure and tone production, flexibility, technical proficiency, phrasing and expression, effective use of vibrato, and exposure to major repertoire and literature. We also work on sight-reading, rhythmic proficiency, and basic music theory. Reed making lessons are also available to advanced or very interested students!
